Assigned Reading 13 No Place to Hide

Book that was written that describes how private data and technology companies and government anti-terror initiatives to created a security-industrial complex.  This tells how the government depends on private information and how every aspect of our lives our used to "promote" homeland security.

Ways we are identified:  Cell phones--our location
 credit/debit cards--our purchases recorded
cars--tracking devices built in

there are now all types of information collectors and sellers--
Lexis Nexis--personal records
Choice Point--collects, analyzed and sells
Verint Systems--works with marketers to track ans assess customers

HI Lori,

Interesting bedtime reading, isn't it? If you were the paranoid type, you wouldn't be able to sleep at night. There seem to be more and more companies trying to get all the information. Why do they feel the need to collect that, and what will they do with it after they have it??

Hopefully this will be good technology for the right people to use. Hopefully also, our information won't be stored, sold, or otherwise made known to all and sundry.
