Week 3 reading Mac OS X and Windows
I read the two articles and wondered about how the Mac and the Windows differed from each other. The more I read--the more i realized that I dont know. Not being a very tech (or computer) savvy person, it is interesting to me to read about each of the features about each updated software package. Yet, it seems that both systems are vying for their users to get upgraded features, a faster performance and an increased compatibility with their old software/system.

From a lay user point of view there are differences between macs and windows machines. However, the frustrations are still the same. For example, when Microsoft Word crashes before you have a chance to save those last edits. If you are doing a lot of graphics editing then macs are supposed to better. In my opinion it just depends on what you are doing with the computer.
I agree, and I think from a technical person's viewpoint there are a lot of differences too. Lori, I think you zeroed in on one of the non-technical and important points of the readings. Both companies know what their user base is looking for, and complaining about. To retain their base, and hopefully make inroads into their competition, they address the concerns while still trying to keep ahead of the technological curve. Microsoft and Apple have different reputations though. Apple is known as the more creative company that attracts "right brain" people, while Microsoft supposedly has a much more corporate culture.
