Assigned Reading 9 Intro to XML

Basically this article talks about XML and what it's function is within the a structured document on the Internet.  It defines how the Internet uniform resource locaters can be used to identify components parts of a data stream.

The XML can identify where illustrations are to be incorporated into text; provide process control and can make editorial comments.

Tags are based on logical structure--there is a start tag to an end tag.  A special form of tag is used to indicate an empty element.

A unique identifier can be used to provide a cross reference between points in a document
