assigned Reading 9 Extend your Mark

An article that tells about XML.  Stating that it is important for presenting, exchanging and management of information.  It lets you annotate text--more of a meaningful way of annotation.
The structure of information is more explicit and easier for humans to read and computers to process.
XML looks like HTML documents--they are well formed, starting with a prolog and contains one element.  A single element is view as the root of the document.
Extensions to XML include namespaces--and more powerful addressing and linking abilities.  Extensions allow the linkage of more than one source document to more than one target document.  With xml it is not necessary to place an anchor in a target document.
