Key points in this this article I found interesting:
- that measures of digital technology are improving at exponential rates according to size, cost, density and speed of components although Moore only wrote about transistors.
- that Moore's law was an observation but became more of a goal for the entire technological industry. Thus becoming a somewhat self-fulfilling prophecy.
- that Moore himself stated that the law cannot be sustained indefinitely.
- improved hardware doesn't mean that improved software performance goes with it.
- as software gets more complicated--it also can get slower.
- RAM speeds and hard drives only improve in small percentages
- the increase of transistors in processors have an increased effect on processing or speed, the relationship is not proportional.
