Assigned Reading 6 computer network

This article discussed the computer network defined as a group of interconnected computers and how they are classified.  Different types of networks were also discussed and how they are wired or connected. 

• PAN used in a close environment-to one person
• LAN-covers a small area such as a home or office; based on ethernet technology; larger data transfer rate, smaller geographical area
• CAN-connects 2 or more LANs but limited to a specific are: college or office bldg.
• MAN-connects 2 or more local area networks or campus areas: doesnt extend over town boundaries.
• WAN-covers a broad geographical area and uses transmission facilities by common carriers.
• GAN-support mobile communities across a number of wireless LANs
