Assigned Reading 5 YouTube and Libraries

Interesting thought of using YouTube to reach people on the library.  I know that my kids are always watching things on YouTube and what a better way to reach out to people.  Somethings in order to get users back into the library, or showcase the resources that a library has, thinking out side the box may be the way to go.  Using technology that is somewhat simple to use and understand, does seem like a good way to attract patrons or at least show what the library has to offer.
I did watch the YouTube video from GA Tech--regarding the patents.  My only comment would be that if you are going to utilize this form of technology--maybe prepare a script that is a little better rehearsed.  Just my thought any way.

I actually watch a lot of stuff on YouTube as does my teenager and I agree with you. I think it's a format that is popular now and reaches a lot of viewers. Why not use the familiar for marketing purposes.

My only concern with using YouTube is whether or not the effort that would go into creating a video would be worth the number of people you would reach (within your target audience). The only way to get a large number of people to watch the video would be through advertisement (whether at the library, word of mouth, whatever) and I just don't know if it would equate to the effort required to create at least a decent quality video.
